What do I need to do in order to convert to Judaism?
The process of becoming Jewish is a highly personal journey – a journey that is probably most successful when it is guided by a rabbi. In many ways becoming Jewish is more like naturalization than it is like transformation. The first step is to have an open mind and to be willing to engage in a process of learning; intellectually and experientially. In most cases the process takes at least a year, in order to allow you to be guided through experiencing the entire cycle of the Jewish year. Your learning can be as part of a scheduled course or through independent study. After an appropriate course of study there are rituals that “confirm” your new status as a Jew.
