Listed on this page are the various charitable funds maintained by our congregation. Donations of $12.00 or more (unless otherwise indicated) will be listed in our monthly bulletin. Our office staff will send an acknowledgment card based on the instructions of the donor. Please specify what you are donating to and who will be acknowledged in the PayPal message. You may contact the office by telephone or mail to expedite your contribution or donate with PayPal or credit card by clicking the button below.
Israel Scholarship Fund
This fund is used to help send our children on authorized trips to Israel and supports our commitment to SKIP (Send a Kid to Israel Program) which underwrites travel to Israel.
Arnold Family Education Enrichment Fund
This fund is used for special programs in our religious and Hebrew schools.
Sidney I. Cole Camp Scholarship Fund
This fund provides camp scholarships for our students who attend Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute Camp.
This fund supports the needs of Jewish education in the TBI schools.
Klei Kodesh Fund
This fund is used exclusively for the purchase and repair of prayer books and religious articles. ($25.00 minimum)
Rabbi Ernst M. Lorge Sanctuary Fund
The fund provides for the continued beautification of our sanctuary, including new art work and other items which enhance our worship experience and comfort. ($18 minimum)
Morris Family Community Fund
This fund was established to respond to emergency needs of individuals in the Skokie community as identified by the Village of Skokie social services staff.
Herzl B. Mendelsohn Library Fund
This fund is used exclusively for the purchase of books, periodicals, furnishings and supplies for our library.
Faye and Howard Rice Cultural Fund
This fund provides support for social and cultural programming, including scholars in residence.
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
This fund receives donations to be used by Rabbi for charitable requests from within and outside of the congregation and for special needs of the congregation.
Social Service Fund
This fund supports social service programs within the Temple, in the surrounding community and to some individual tzedakah recipients.
High Holy Day Appeal
Congregants contribute to this important annual campaign to create crucial funding for the congregation’s financial obligations.
Congregants contribute to this campaign to enrich our congregational life. This voluntary additional dues campaign is for members who have fulfilled their required dues obligations and give an additional contribution of $500 or more. The names of donors who give $750 and above are recognized in the Temple lobby.
Nanette B. Mendelsohn Tree of Life
This Sisterhood fund provides for the beautification of Temple Beth Israel.
In addition to the funds listed above, members can make an important contribution to Temple Beth Israel every week when they are shopping. Use our gift cards and certificates for grocery stores, restaurants and clothing stores and the Temple receives part of each dollar you spend.
