Mark your calendars for October.  Everyone is welcome to these informative and lively sessions. Study with Rabbi Weinberg will be held on Monday mornings using The Torah: A Women's Commentary. You may attend one or more of the sessions. The study sessions are arranged by Sisterhood Temple Beth Israel, but all temple members are welcome. No prior registration or preparation is necessary. We hope to see you there!

WEEKEND ADULT STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

SHABBAT STUDY WITH RABBI WEINBERG—
Members gather in Rabbi Weinberg's study each Shabbat morning from 9:00am to 10:15am for Tanach study. The group moves at its own pace in reading and discussing the Tanach (the Hebrew Bible).  This year we continue our march through the desert as we read and examine Shemot (Exodus).  Join an open discussion of the Biblical text (in English) with Rabbi Weinberg and fellow congregants.   Regular and occasional attendees are all welcome.  No prior knowledge is required. (This group does not meet when Rabbi Weinberg is out of town; check with the Temple office to confirm schedule.)

NEW CLASS:  BOOK OF ISAIAH 101
Engraved on the Isaiah Wall, opposite the United Nations building in New York City: “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they know war anymore.” (2:4)
Isaiah was the most thoughtful, as well as the most ardent patriot, among the Prophets, always defending Israel and imploring forgiveness for its sins.  We will explore the contradictions between mercy and justice on the page and in our own lives.  Each week this adult education class will read, discuss and try to unravel the meaning and message of a portion of the Book of Isaiah. It is open to all TBI members and is structured to be accessible and fun for all. No prior experience reading Torah is required.
